I have coached many people to lose anything from 10-50 KG of body fat and started to reflect on what these people did which made them successful. And actually, I’ve realised its more about what they stopped doing!
I’ve noticed 5 key things I’ve helped them to STOP, which allowed them to achieve such big results……and I want to share those with you today.
So if you are on or wanting to start a fat loss journey, take a look below, and see if there is anything you relate to and could start to implement.
If you can do all 5, you will boost your chances of success, and make the fat loss process far more enjoyable.
1. They stopped thinking less food is always better. It’s not always about less food. In fact, it’s about eating as much as you can whilst remaining in a deficit. A smaller deficit you can maintain for a longer amount of time always champions and big deficit you can’t stick to. Especially if you have a lot of weight to lose and don’t want to feel tired and miserable the whole time and still not reach your goal!
2. They stopped thinking about all the things they were being denied and started thinking about what they got to do. E.g. I get to go to the gym, I get to eat healthy food, I get to move more, I get to add years onto my life, I get to improve my health and energy. These are all positive great things! This is in stark contrast to focusing negatively on all the foods they are no longer allowed to have, not being able to drink as much over the weekend or having to watch an hour less TV to make time for the gym!
3. They stopped aiming for perfection. I promise you, aiming for perfection gets you no where when trying to reduce body fat. None of my clients are perfect and I don’t expect them to be! Consistency at 80% beats brief blasts of perfection every time, and my successful client stopped thinking they had to aim for perfect and started focusing on getting most things right each day and keeping going/ And on days where they were way off the mark, they viewed them as learning opportunities to immediately apply and carry forward.
4. They stopped weighing themselves once a week. This is pot luck and a bit like playing Russian roulette! You might happen to weigh yourself on day with a low fluctuation or you might also happen to weigh yourself on your heaviest fluctuation and these could be a kilo apart in weight. This will give you a completely different perspective on if you think your efforts are paying off and really impact your motivation which can lead to you giving up. Remember, fluctuations are normal day to day, especially for women with hormones to consider, so start looking at your average weight across a week and not one random day.
5. They Stopped focusing on the outcome and started focusing on the process… AND ENJOYING IT. Successful fat loss comes from putting your focus and energy into the daily tasks you need to complete, not just watching the scales. Learn to find satisfaction in checking off small daily habits and wins like hitting your step count, getting your daily water, tracking your food accurately and getting 7 hours quality sleep. And furthermore, focus on how much better this makes you feel! Things that make us feel good, we tend to WANT to do again! Focus on this and before you know it, you will have lost your first stone.
I hope that’s given you some things to consider and hopefully start to implement to support you losing weight. If you want any help with this or have any questions please drop me a message, lizzie@onepercentclub.info or a DM @lizzie.kicks on Instagram
